Ukraine committed to political and diplomatic settlement of Donbas situation

Ukraine remains a strong supporter of a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in Donbas, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting with ambassadors of G7 countries and the European Union.

At the current stage, the main efforts should be aimed at making Russia observe its commitments under the Minsk agreements, according to a report on the Ukrainian president's official website.

"The sanction pressure on Moscow demonstrates its efficiency and should be maintained until the full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country," Poroshenko said.

The officials also discussed the release of hostages and political prisoners illegally held in Russia and in the occupied territories.

Canadian Ambassador Roman Waschuk, Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi, Ambassador of France Isabelle Dumont, British Ambassador Judith Gough, U.S. Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovitch, German Ambassador Ernst Reichel, Italian Ambassador Davide La Cecilia and EU Ambassador Hugues Mingarelli took part in the meeting.
