Moscow Regional Court sentences Ukrainian citizen Vyhovsky to 11 years in prison for spying
The Moscow Regional Court found Ukrainian citizen Valentyn Vyhovsky, charged with spying in Russian territory, guilty, and sentenced him to 11 years in a maximum security penitentiary.
The court's findings suggest that Vyhovsky has been found guilty of spying, an Interfax correspondent reports.
The court also ordered that the 3,900 euros that were seized from Vyhovsky, to be counted as public revenue.
After the sentence was handed down, the defendant was given the chance to speak with a Ukrainian embassy official.
Vyhovsky's defense lawyer told Interfax that the defendant planned to appeal the sentence to dispute its severity.
The defendant had previously reached a plea agreement with the investigation.
The case was classified and was investigated by the Federal Security Service (FSB).
