OSCE delegation, Ukrainian border guards discuss Ukraine-Russia border situation

An OSCE delegation has met with Ukrainian State Border Service officials to discuss the Ukrainian-Russian border situation and ways to build border security.

It was said at the meeting that the Ukrainian State Border Service had been taking measures towards controlling the Ukrainian-Russian border, including the formation and equipment of new units and engineering works, the service said on Tuesday. Security posts are opening along the security line of the army operation zone in Donbas and the space between them is being patrolled.

Based on border security expertise from other countries, an action plan has been elaborated for engineering equipment of the state border line, including anti-tank ditches, earth and concrete walls, an exclusion zone, an optical-electronic surveillance network, observation towers and alarm systems, it said.

The sides agreed to continue cooperation in the context of the OSCE monitoring of the ceasefire and security regime in the security zone and Ukrainian-Russian border sectors outside of the army operation in eastern Ukraine.

The OSCE delegation came to Ukraine to discuss the situation in eastern regions and look for ways to resolve the conflict.
