Unidentified individuals have beaten up journalist and activist Tetiana Chornovil near Boryspil (Kyiv region).

Spokesman for Kyiv regional police Mykola Zhukovych told Interfax-Ukraine that the incident occurred on Tuesday night. Traffic police officers brought Chornovil to the emergency room after they found her in a car that fell into a ditch.

"Employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate saw an incorrectly parked car, then found the driver with multiple injuries and brought the woman to the emergency room," he said.

According to police, Chornovil was riding her own car when she was cut off by a dark-colored car. Unidentified individuals pulled the journalist out of the car and beat her up, throwing her car into a ditch.

The event was recorded and criminal proceedings were opened.

Ukrainian journalist Mustafa Nayyem wrote on his Twitter page: "According to Tetiana Chornovil, she turned to the village of Hora, where she lives, when she saw a car following her. She swerved back to Boryspil, but the car started pressing her. Then her car was hit several times. She stopped. Two men ran out of the car and broke the glass. She jumped out of the car and tried to escape. They ran her down and beat her up. She was beaten by two men."
