CoE secretary general Jagland calls Ukrainians not to use violence, offers help to settle situation

Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland has called all Ukrainian parties to refrain from the use of violence and offered his help in settlement of the situation, reads the report from Jagland passed to Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

Saying that the situation in Ukraine, which "is member of the Council of Europe, provokes anxiety", he called all parties "to refrain from the use of violence and to go back to a peaceful dialogue."

"The Council of Europe is ready to help Ukraine and its people to settle present difficult situation according to the obligations of the country in the frames of the Convention of the Council of Europe on human rights, under principles of democracy, rule of law and human rights," reads the report.
