Tymoshenko case put on agenda of CoE Committee of Ministers on execution of ECHR judgments

The case of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has been included in the updated agenda of a meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, during which the execution of verdicts and judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will be considered on September 24-26.

According to the agenda of the meeting published on Friday, the case of Tymoshenko is fourth on the list of issues to be considered at the meeting.

In relation to Ukraine, the Committee of Ministers is also planning to consider the cases of Oleksandr Volkov, Svitlana Naumenko and Oleksiy Verentsov.

In the case of Volkov, Ukraine had to reinstate him as a judge of the Supreme Court. The final decision on this case came into force on May 27 this year.

The case of Naumenko concerned excessively long judicial proceedings and the absence of effective means of a legal defense, whereas the case of Verentsov concerned an administrative ban on holding a peaceful demonstration.
