The family of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will not ask President Viktor Yanukovych to pardon her, the ex-premier's aunt, Antonina Uliakhina, has said.

"[Tymoshenko's family] will not [ask for her pardon]," she told reporters in Kharkiv on Monday.

She said that the positions of Tymoshenko and her family coincide.

Uliakhina added that relatives of the former prime minister had not received any official proposals from the government.

"Firstly, we have not received any official proposals. Secondly, Yulia Volodymyrivna answered for all of us: she will not ask for anything from this regime. And we will not ask for anything. We understand as nobody else in this country who we are dealing with," she said.

She added that along with supporters of the former prime minister, she arrived at Ukrzaliznytsia's Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv on the day marking two years of Tymoshenko's being in prison in order to support her niece and express solidarity with her.

"This kind of injustice in our country, unfortunately, concerns not only the leader of our opposition. Nobody has a guarantee that his or her rights will be protected... We want people in our country to be protected by the law and law enforcement agencies," Uliakhina said.
