Shakhtar, Dnipro in last eight of Ukrainian Cup, Karpaty eliminate Metalist
The leaders of the Ukrainian Premier League, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, have confidently reached the quarterfinals of the Ukrainian Cup.
In the last sixteen matches played on Wednesday, October 31, Shakhtar beat Hoverla in Uzhgorod 4-1, whereas Dnipro defeated Illichivets Mariupol 2-0 at home.
Metalist Kharkiv, who are currently in fourth place in the Ukrainian Premier League, suffered a 1-2 away defeat to Karpaty Lviv in extra time.
The Ukrainian Premier League will be represented by four more clubs in the quarterfinals of the Ukrainian Cup. Tavria Simferopol beat Vorskla 3-2 in Poltava, while Arsenal Kyiv earned a 1-0 win over Avanhard in Kramatorsk. Chornomorets Odesa defeated UkrAgroCom from the village of Holovkivka in Kirovohrad region 2-1. Volyn Lutsk beat Shakhtar Sverdlovsk 2-1.
The Ukrainian First League's Sevastopol also won through to the quarterfinals after defeating Nyva Ternopil 2-0.
Multiple Ukrainian Cup winners Dynamo Kyiv were eliminated from the tournament in the last 32, when they lost to Shakhtar Donetsk 1-4.
