Russian shelling of Ukrainian energy facilities is aimed at stopping the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine, said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, chairman of the Kyiv Security Forum (KSF) and former Prime Minister of Ukraine (2014-16).

"What Putin is doing is a crime against humanity. After all, the bombing of Ukrainian infrastructure and energy facilities falls under the international definition of war crimes against humanity... The United States has postponed the decision to transfer Tomahawks to Ukraine. And this is not just a matter of victory from a military point of view. These missiles are not just one of the elements of deterrence against Russia, including from attacks on Ukrainian energy. We need long-range weapons so that the Russian Federation understands that Ukraine will also strike at Russian energy and military facilities," Yatsenyuk said during an extraordinary session of the KSF on the situation in the energy sector and the economy of Ukraine.

He thanked Ukrainian energy workers "for the fact that we have survived more than one winter and will survive this one too," and noted that "in order for us to win, it is extremely important for us to gather our forces, means and resources and get through this difficult winter."

Speaking about the financial component, the head of the KBF recalled that two-thirds of the state budget funds go to defense. There is still no necessary amount of funding for next year. And here Kyiv is counting on the support of European partners. "To survive this year and win this righteous war," Yatsenyuk said.
