Zaporizhiaoblenergo completes 91% of substation protection - company director

Distribution system operator OJSC Zaporizhiaoblenergo has completed 91% of work to strengthen high-voltage substations in the region and continues to do so, said company director Andriy Stasevsky.

"We are carrying out systematic work to strengthen and protect key energy facilities on our balance sheet. First of all, we are talking about high-voltage substations, on which the power supply of a large number of consumers at once depends, sometimes entire microdistricts and a number of critical infrastructure facilities. To date, protective fortifications have already been built at most substations: we have completed 91% of this work, and it continues," he said in an interview with the Energy Reform online portal.

According to him, this will minimize the consequences of possible "arrivals" from enemy shelling, in particular, protect equipment from damage by shell and missile debris.

Stasevsky added that additional reinforcement of electrical equipment is also being carried out, and as of early September, this work has already been completed at dozens of substations, and is still ongoing at some.

As reported, the head of Zaporizhiaoblenergo noted that since September 22 of this year, the Russian military began to strike Zaporizhia with guided bombs, which pose new threats, since they cannot be shot down.

According to him, in September, shelling has become a daily occurrence not only for the frontline territories of the region, but also for the regional center, which increases the volume of repair and restoration work.

"Only during the week that has passed since the beginning of the first strikes by guided bombs on Zaporizhia (September 22), specialists from our company have returned electricity to more than 20,000 houses," the head of the regional power company emphasized.
