NBU denies assigning MFO sort codes to 'central banks' of so-called DPR, LPR

Information that the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) allegedly assigned MFO sort codes to 'central banks' of so-called DPR and LPR is not true, the NBU has said.

"The National Bank and the Ukrainian banking system do not operate on the territory of self-proclaimed DPR and LPR. The NBU also does not regulate operations of bank institutions on the territories that are not under control of the Ukrainian government," the central bank said on Tuesday.

The central bank recalled that all types of financial transactions in the settlements that are not under control of Ukrainian authorities were suspended in 2014.

Earlier Creative Producer of Groshi television program Oleksandr Dubynsky said that the NBU allegedly assigned MFO sort code to the so-called Central Reserve Bank of DPR.

The NBU said that MFO code of banks can be tracked on the official website of the central bank in the Ukrainian banks reference list. The code mentioned by Dubynsky is not used.
