Cabinet instructs Naftogaz to hire lawyers to defend its rights to property in Crimea

The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed Naftogaz Ukrainy and the profile ministry to attract qualified legal advisers to protect the rights and interests of Ukraine in disputes related to the loss of property, inability to use property, and non-receipt of income in Crimea and its shelf because of the temporary occupation of the peninsula.

The corresponding decision is fixed in Cabinet resolution No. 605 dated August 19, 2015, the text of which has been posted on the government's website.

According to the document, Naftogaz Ukrainy has received the right to purchase appropriate legal services.

As reported, after the Russian annexation of Crimea, the local authorities declared the continental shelf, as well as the property of Chornomornaftogaz, which is 100% owned by Naftogaz Ukraine, as the property of Crimea.

Chornomornaftogaz is developing the Ukrainian sectors of the Black Sea and Azov Sea shelves. It also produces hydrocarbons on fields in Crimea, in addition to operating the Hlibovske underground gas storage facility and trunk gas pipelines located on the peninsula.
