Naftogaz selecting law firm to protect company's interests in litigation with Merchant
National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy will hold a tender to buy legal services to represent its interest in litigation with Merchant International Company Ltd. (the United States) in the English courts and in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The expected cost of legal services is UAH 13.2 million. Bids can be submitted by July 16. The services are to be provided by late 2015.
"The key tasks that are to be fulfilled are linked to the protection of the company’s interests during hearings by courts of foreign jurisdictions of all instances on the forced execution of the default judgment of the English court of February 28, 2011 on collecting $24.71 million from the Ukrainian company," reads the report.
Naftogaz Ukrainy unites oil and gas production assets in Ukraine, and is the country's gas transit, underground gas storage, and oil pipeline transportation monopoly.
