Households to be able to select gas suppliers from Oct 1 - Naftogaz Ukrainy
Ukrainian households will be able to select gas suppliers from October 1, Business Development Director at national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy Yuriy Vitrenko said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"The liability of selling gas to any supplier which would have a contract with households will be imposed on Naftogaz. The end price at which suppliers are able to sell gas to households will be restricted. We will sell gas to suppliers at this price minus a small margin, the size of which is set by the Cabinet of Ministers. Thus, households will have a real chance of selecting gas suppliers from October 1," he said.
Vitrenko said that regional gas supply companies with their own client base and other players could start competition in gas supplied.
"If we see that there is no real competition – we offer, while companies do not want, it is hard and investment is not enough – then we will enter the market ourselves," he said.
