Naftogaz needs $1.5 bln to accumulate gas for winter – CEO

NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy plans to discuss financial support for the purchase of gas needed to ensure smooth gas supplies to Europe in winter.

"We need liquidity for an additional amount of 6 billion cubic meters [of gas]," Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev told reporters in Brussels.

"This is an estimated sum of liquidity we'd like to borrow from foreign banks or institutions to buy the gas," he said.

He added that Naftogaz requires about $1.5 billion for this.
