The police prevented a potential fight between local football fans and supporters of FC Dynamo Kyiv before the UEFA Europa League match in the city of Aktobe, western Kazakhstan.

Twenty-five Ukrainian football fans came to a local bank to exchange money as FC Dynamo Kyiv prepared to face FC Aktobe in the UEFA Europa League play-off match on August 22, regional police department spokesman Ardager Uaydin told Interfax on Friday.

The Ukrainian fans ran in front of the FC Aktobe supporters at the entrance to the bank.

"The Ukrainians were shouting "Dynamo is the champion!" and the FC Aktobe fans were shouting "Aktobe is the champion!" in response. Policemen reacted immediately, and any potential conflict was averted. Several Ukrainian fans were under influence. Both sides refused to file a complaint with the police. No one was injured in the incident," Uaydin said.

"It was a single incident" during the football match, he added.

FC Dynamo Kyiv defeated FC Aktobe 3-2.
