Poroshenko promises to return Donetsk to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated residents of Donetsk, controlled by militants, on the City Day.

The fight for returning Donetsk to Ukraine is continuing, he said.

"We have not forgotten about you and are fighting hard for your return to Ukraine. I'm sure the Ukrainian anthem will be played in our Donetsk again!" Poroshenko said on Twitter on Sunday.

He also posted a video from the Donbas Arena stadium in Donetsk recorded during a football game before the Donbas conflict and depicting fans singing Ukraine's national anthem.
