Poroshenko compares situation in S. Ossetia to Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who is on a visit to Georgia, and Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili visited the village of Odzisi located on the South Ossetian border on Wednesday.

In Odzisi, the two presidents looked through the binoculars at the Russian border guard base, which was built several years ago. It is located several hundred meters from the wire fences put along the border line.

Poroshenko was interested in the humanitarian situation of the local population, the Georgian presidential press service said.

"President Poroshenko drew a parallel between the situation in the occupied region of Georgia and the situation in Donbas," the report said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, who accompanied Poroshenko, told reporters no compromises with Russia on the 'occupied territories' are possible.

"We continue the struggle because it is a struggle nut only for our territories, but also for our citizens," he said.
