Ukraine, Japan to cooperate in disaster clean-up area
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine and Japan should unite their scientific and technical potential to overcome the aftermath of emergency situations and disasters.
"We are the two countries in the world which share awful experience of largest global nuclear disasters," the president said, speaking in Japan's National Press Club in Tokyo on Wednesday.
He recalled the earthquake in Japan leading to the Fukushima disaster and the tragedy at Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
"I'm proud that our countries have united our efforts, scientific and technical potential in the field of disaster clean-up. Together we have achieved progress. We are determined to continue this cooperation for the benefit of the whole world," he said.
