Naftogaz, Goldman Sachs with support of OPIC and IFC to attract funds for gas injection
Naftogaz Ukrainy together with Goldman Sachs investment bank with the support of the U.S. government agency OPIC and the IFC, part of the World Bank Group, are working on raising investment for financing gas injection in the next winter period.
"This project is important for us as a step to enter international financial markets," Naftogaz Director for Development Yuriy Vitrenko wrote on his Facebook blog.
According to him, the project is important for Ukraine as an example of attracting international private investment when Ukrainian risks are insured by the U.S. government agency, as well as cooperation of private investment banks and international financial organizations.
According to information on the OPIC's website, the matter concerns the storage of up to 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske, Uherske, Oparske, Dashavske and Bohorodchanske underground gas storage facilities.
