Organizer of Crimea blackout Islyamov charged with sabotage in absentia
Crimea's Prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya said businessman Lenur Islyamov has been charged in absentia with sabotage following the power blockade of Crimea.
"Islyamov was one of the leaders [of the blackout]. Citizen Islyamov has now been charged with sabotage in absentia," Poklonskaya said in an interview with Rossiya 24 television (VGTRK) on Monday.
She said the investigation is underway and several forensic evaluations have been performed.
It was reported on December 3 that a Crimean court had seized Islyamov's property.
Islyamov is the owner of the Crimean Tatar channel ATR, the transport company SimCityTrans, the bank Just Bank, Apple electronics shops, and former deputy prime minister of Crimea. He now lives in Ukraine.
Islyamov was among the organizers of the power blockade of Crimea implemented in Ukraine's Kherson region by Crimean Tatar activists and supporters of the radical organization Right Sector, which is banned in Russia.
