Poroshenko announces arrest of suspect in bombing of SBU building in Odesa
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko during a visit to Odesa has reported the arrest of the perpetrator of a terrorist attack in front of the office of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) branch in the city on September 27.
"Together with the Security Service of Ukraine we will stabilize the situation. To achieve this we need to be very well coordinated. Odesa should serve as an example of the effectiveness of the law enforcement agencies," Poroshenko's press service quoted him as saying on Friday.
The president also drew the attention of the head of the regional police department Georgi Lortkipanidze to the fact that the new police force should step up the fight against crime, and ensure the transparency and publicity of their work.
As reported, a powerful explosion occurred outside the SBU's Odesa regional office building at around 5 a.m. on Sunday, September 27. The blast damaged the building and windows in nearby houses. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
