Acting Russian consul in Odesa declared persona non grata - SBU
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister has declared the acting consul of the Russian Federation in Odesa persona non grata based on Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) materials, the SBU press service reported on Friday morning.
"In accordance with Article 23 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has given the Russian side a note demanding that the acting general consul of the Russian Federation in Odesa urgently leave the territory of our country," the report says.
Vasyl Hrytsak, the head of SBU, said the decision was made because his activities were incompatible with diplomatic activities, and because of breaches of the above-mentioned convention.
He said SBU will continue determining foreigners who work against Ukraine under the guise of their status.
The Russian diplomat has already left Ukraine.
