Poroshenko allows for Ukrainian Cabinet's 'reformatting' in fall

1 min read

The Ukrainian parliamentary coalition may consider the reformatting of the Cabinet, depending on how its performance is assessed in the fall, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"We will sum up interim results of the next stage of our joint work in the fall. Performance of each minister will be scrutinized under a microscope. I don't rule out the possibility that the Cabinet of ministers could be reformatted. This is not within my purview, I don't sack or appoint government members and ministers. But if the coalition itself doesn't do that, you can be sure sometimes that society might want this," Poroshenko said in an annual address to the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday.

The president said government reshuffles may take place only on the condition that the current coalition and its unity are preserved.

"But, at the same time, the coalition's unity should not be turned into a conspiracy of silence. There should be a frank and open conversation," he said.
