Parliamentary coalition striving for further reforms – Groysman

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Groysman and the President of Slovakia Andrej Kiska have discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine, the ongoing reforms in the country, and the prospects for further development between the two states.

"Ukraine is a peaceful country and what Russia is doing is obvious to the whole world — Russia's actions led to bloodshed in a sovereign state…I'm sure we'll gain victory, and peace will settle both in Ukraine and Europe," the parliamentary press service quotes Groysman as saying.

In turn, Kiska said Slovakia always supports Ukraine and considers the annexation of Crimea as a rude violation of international law.

Kiska said that reforms being conducted in Ukraine should go further and for this purpose the country needs a functional parliament which to be ready to make necessary, not popular laws, and that Slovakia is ready to render expert assistance to Ukraine.

Groysman said that the parliamentary coalition is striving for further reforms.

Groysman stressed the Verkhovna Rada exhibits "efficiency in decision making" regarding legislative support for reforms. He also spoke about the elaboration of the Plan for Legislative Support of Reform, which will systemize the work of the supreme legislative body of Ukraine.

Groysman thanked Slovakia for its comprehensive support for Ukraine's position, adding that "Russia is currently trying to exert pressure on Ukraine using military, information, economic, energy and political levers."

Kiska said his country supports the expansion of the EU and that Ukraine has the right to EU membership.
