Japan provides Ukraine with $1.5 bln loan guarantees, extra $316.6 mln aid - presidential administration
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Valeriy Chaly has met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Yasumasa Nagamine and discussed the provision of financial assistance to Ukraine.
"Chaly thanked the Japanese side for their large-scale financial assistance to Ukraine, in particular, the issue of $1.5 billion in credit assistance for implementing a number of projects in support of development. The official also welcomed Japan's decision to provide Ukraine with an extra aid of $316.6 million to stabilize the national economy and support reforms," reads a post on the presidential website.
Chaly expressed his gratitude to Japan for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He noted that Japan's position is very important, especially before the G7 summit which will be held in Germany on June 7-8, while Ukraine expects special attention will be given to the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas and the ways to counter Russian aggression.
The parties discussed the state of implementing the Minsk agreements and the prospects of an international peacekeeping mission being deployed in eastern Ukraine under the auspices of the United Nations.
