G7 countries would like to see Russia as part of G8 again, but it's currently not possible – Steinmeier

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Wednesday the G7 countries have no purpose of isolating Russia.

None of the G7 countries are interested in Russia's isolation and they would like to see Russia as part of G8 again, Steinmeier said in Lubeck following a meeting of the foreign ministers off the G7 countries.

Steinmeier reiterated that it is currently not possible due Russia's position on Ukraine and due incomplete fulfillments of the Minsk agreements by Russia.

Steinmeier also said he finds Russia's decision to supply S-300 missiles to Iran to be premature. He said he was surprised by the decision to send the missiles to Iran, adding that there is no need to rush such decisions.
