Interior Ministry soon to unveil program for unified special police unit similar to American SWAT– Avakov
The Interior Ministry of Ukraine soon will unveil a program for setting up a unified special police force similar to the U.S. SWAT (Special Weapons Assault Team) called K.O.R.D. (Sudden Operational Response Team), Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said.
Avakov underlined that the Interior Ministry of Ukraine cooperates with the U.S. government and experts not only in the sphere of patrol services.
"I'm talking about establishment of the unified special police forces in Ukraine. The governmental program says about creating of the unified force analogous to SWAT in the U.S.," he said during a joint press conference with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt devoted to signing of agreement on law enforcement assistance between two states.
"We are completely ready and in the nearest time we will present the program for creation of the unified special police force of Ukraine named K.O.R.D. (Sudden Operational Response Team)," Avakov said.
