Yatseniuk announces inquiries into SBU, PGO, Interior Ministry

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that official inquiries into the Security Service of Ukraine, Prosecutor General's Office and Interior Ministry will be launched to ascertain whether the services are involved in corrupt tax and customs schemes.

"I've already talked to the President of Ukraine and I'm sure that the head of state, who controls Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), will carry out similar personnel purges in the SBU. Also, the same kind of purges will be done at the Prosecutor General's Office, because those in our country, who are supposed to protect the law, are guarded from the law. I also ordered the interior minister and the internal security office to carry out an internal investigation and personnel purges in the Interior Ministry," Yatseniuk said, adding that corrupt schemes "must be demolished."

The Prime Minister said that the results of the inquiries would be made public.
