Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with G7 and EU ambassadors to discuss coordination of their further actions on the international scene to assist in the peace process.

The chief of state thanked the ambassadors for the support given to Kyiv by the leading nations in difficult times, the Ukrainian presidential press service reported. "This is a real test for our relations," he said.

Poroshenko stressed the importance of cooperation with G7 member countries in the foreign political events of the latest weeks - the European Council meeting, the NATO summit in Wales and working visits to Canada and the United States.

"In that context, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt confirmed the statement President Barack Obama made at his meeting with President Poroshenko about the U.S. adherence to supporting Ukraine and developing an even closer partnership," the report said.

The president told the ambassadors about the latest events in Donbas and noted that the tensions persisted. He stressed at the same time that Ukraine was honoring the Minsk agreements reached on September 5.

"In the words of Petro Poroshenko, fulfillment by all sides of the agreements regarding the bilateral ceasefire, the release of hostages and, especially, the control over the Ukrainian-Russian border, the formation of a buffer zone and the provision of efficient OSCE monitoring and verification in that region was a token of further positive dynamics," the press service said.

Poroshenko met with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, EU Delegation Head Jan Tombinski, German Ambassador Christof Weil, French Ambassador Alain Remy, Japanese Ambassador Toichi Sakata, Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Romano, British Ambassador Simon Smith, and Canadian Charge D'Affaires in Ukraine Anne Mattson Gauss.
