Tymoshenko says lower electoral threshold will allow new parties to join Verkhovna Rada
The leader of Ukraine's Batkivschyna (Fatherland) party and presidential candidate, Yulia Tymoshenko, has proposed lowering the electoral threshold from 5% to 3% ahead of the next parliamentary elections in the country.
"I am in favor of a lower threshold at the next elections to the Verkhovna Rada…The threshold of 5% is too high. It should be cut to 3% at the very least," Tymoshenko told the ICTV television station on Monday evening.
This measure will allow parties that took part in the Euromaidan, including the Right Sector, to win parliamentary seats, she said.
"New political forces should appear in the Rada," she added.
