Naftogaz main office in Kyiv being searched

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main investigative department is conducting investigative procedures at the central office of the national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy, the Kyiv police department told Interfax-Ukraine.

People in masks carrying firearms are in the office and near it, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

A Naftogaz spokesperson told Interfax-Ukraine the office's operations have been paralyzed, and investigators are searching the building and seizing documents.

Naftogaz incorporates major Ukrainian oil and gas production facilities and holds a monopoly over the transportation and storage of natural gas in underground storage facilities and the pipeline transportation of oil across the country.
