UN Security Council to hold emergency session on Ukraine on Wednesday, says Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on the situation in Crimea on Wednesday, according to the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

"An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled for today to address the situation around the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by of the Russian Federation," director of the ministry's information policy department Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing on Wednesday.

According to him, the first deputy secretary general of the UN and the secretary general's assistant for human rights will speak at the meeting.

The meeting will be attended by a Ukrainian delegation, Perebyinis said.
