OSCE military observers not let in Crimea - Foreign Ministry

Military observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) were not allowed to enter the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis has said.

He said that an OSCE group had been stopped by unidentified gunmen near the town of Armiansk in Crimea and had been told that movement across Crimea required a permit from the new administration of the autonomy.

"A plan for further activity of the mission is currently being agreed," he said.

As reported, an OSCE verification mission of 40 observers from 21 OSCE countries is in Ukraine from March 5 to March 12.

The program of their stay includes visits to military facilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.
