UN senior advisor Serry comes to Crimea

Robert Serry, Senior Advisor to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, came to Crimea on Tuesday, the UN Web site reports.

The Web site said the UN Secretary General ordered Serry last Friday, after consultations held at the UN Security Council, to go to Crimea on a fact finding mission.

Serry reported on Saturday he had contacted the authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and decided it was impossible to visit Crimea so far.

Instead he went to Geneva for a meeting with the UN Secretary General and returned to Kyiv on Monday.

The UN New York headquarters reported on Tuesday afternoon that Serry had arrived in Crimea.

Serry travelled to Ukraine several times, in January and February, at the request of the UN Secretary General.
