Tymoshenko urges international partners to support Ukraine
Batkivschyna Party leader, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, has said that Ukraine alone cannot solve the conflict with Russia and hopes for protection from its democratic partners for the settlement of the crisis.
"Today Ukraine cannot resolve the conflict with Russia on its own. Only the entire democratic world, using strong tools, can stop this confrontation, preserve our sovereignty and prevent bloodshed," the party's press service quoted Tymoshenko as saying in an interview with U.S. television channel CNN on Tuesday morning.
Tymoshenko recalled that when the Budapest Memorandum was signed in 1994, the United States, Britain and Russia gave guarantees regarding inviolability of territory, peace, calm and independence.
In this regard, she noted that during the crisis caused by the groundless aggression by Russia, Ukraine relied on protection from its democratic partners.
"If Russia so grossly and cynically violated this memorandum, then our entire state and every citizen believes that the U.S. and the UK will fulfill their guarantees and protect us," she said.
