Ukrainian Navy officers did not yield to Berezovsky's call to take Crimean government side - Navy headquarters

Armed men and former Ukrainian Navy Commander Denys Berezovsky broke into the headquarters of the Ukrainian Navy in Sevastopol on Monday morning and tried to convince Ukrainian servicemen to take the side of the Crimean leadership, the Navy headquarters has told Interfax-Ukraine.

Newly Appointed Ukrainian Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Serhiy Haiduk, was there at that time. At 1000, at a general meeting, the personnel of the Ukrainian Navy command confirmed allegiance to the people of Ukraine, refusing to take the other side.

"After the meeting, the practically unarmed officers forced the Russian troops and Berezovsky to leave the headquarters," he added.
