Prosecutor General's Office probes seizure of government buildings in Simferopol
Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office has opened criminal proceedings under the article "terror attack" following the seizure in Crimea of the buildings of the Crimean parliament and government.
"At 0430 on Thursday, two groups of unknown persons (10-15 people each) seized the buildings of the Supreme Council and the Council of Ministers of Crimea. Unknown persons broke into the premises, breaking down the door, and then closed themselves in. They are not making any demands. According to preliminary data, the said persons have firearms, the amount and type of which is unknown. They did not use arms when they seized the buildings, and there are no data on the use of force with respect to employees of interior agencies and the State Guard Department," the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
The information has been included in the unified register of pre-trial investigations, and the Crimean Prosecutor's Office has opened criminal proceedings under Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terror attack).
The investigation is to be carried out by the Ukrainian Security Service's office in Crimea.
