Flash mob in support of journalists takes place in Kyiv's main street
A flash mob called "Silent Procession of the Ukrainian People" took place in Kyiv's main street, Khreschatyk, on Sunday with people proceeding from the building of the city administration to Independence Square with their mouths covered with black ribbons.
The UDAR party's press service reports quoting an organizer of the action and coordinator of the party's young wing Dmytro Bilotserkovets as saying that over 100 people joined the action.
"We wanted to demonstrate support for journalists who have been beaten many times outside of the presidential administration and on the Maidan [Kyiv's Independence Square], with those who are fighting the bosses on state-owned channels and also all the activists of Euromaidan [a protest rally on Independence Square] whom the government actually tried to stifle and whose ideas about the country's future it doesn't want to listen to," Bilotserkovets said.
He said the action was joined by representatives of different organizations – the column included people with scarves of Batkivschyna party and others. "First of all the flash mob was joined by those who care about the issue, who care about solidarity with journalists and protesters," he said.
