Yanukovych: We will do all we can to reduce purchases of Russian gas at current price

Ukraine will do all it can to reduce the amount of Russian gas purchased at the current price, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"We are working to create such conditions for Russia, under which it would find it disadvantageous to sell gas to Ukraine at too high a price," Yanukovych said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels, recalling that the country had already reduced its purchases of Russian gas by 18 billion cubic meters.

"The prospect for the further reductions [of gas purchases] is real. We will do everything possible to cut the purchases of gas," he said.
