Ukraine hopes that the European Commission will provide technical assistance in the process of the demarcation of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border as a part of the Eastern Partnership program, Ukraine's envoy for formalization of the state border Leonid Osavoliuk has said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"We're working with the European Commission and hope that the EU can render technical aid in the frames of the Eastern Partnership program. We've already conducted the respective meetings in Brussels and hope for a positive result from them," he added.

According to the diplomat, the next stage of the talks with the commission regarding this issue is scheduled for December 18, 2013.

Osavoliuk said demarcation with Belarus was a rather costly process, since the area consists of bogland and forest. That's why Kyiv expects for a positive result from talks with the European Commission regarding the provision of technical assistance.
