A presentation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea will be conducted at the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France) on October 29-31 as part of the 25th plenary session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, the press center of the Crimean Supreme Council reported on Wednesday.
The presentation is aimed at informing Europeans about Crimea, its economic and investment potential, promoting the resort sector of the autonomy, and discussing the further development of inter-regional cooperation with European countries. It will bring together representatives of delegations of the European Parliament from more than 40 countries.
A round table entitled "Regionalization and devolution in Europe in the context of the economic crisis – recent developments" with the participation of members of the Crimean delegation and members of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, will be held as part of the presentation. In addition, during the presentation it is planned to hold an exhibition of wine products of Crimea at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Strasbourg.
Crimean Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Konstantynov, who will lead the Crimean delegation, said that the presentation of the peninsula at the European Parliament "will help popularize Crimea in the eyes of Europeans as an economically attractive region with great investment potential, expand Crimea's ties with the member states of the Council of Europe at the inter-regional level, as well as promote the resort opportunities of the autonomy."
"Our scope of cooperation with our European partners is constantly expanding. Representatives of the Council of Europe participated in Crimea in the discussion of local government reform in Ukraine, the draft of the new wording of the constitution of the state and the expansion in the main law of the powers of the Crimean autonomy," he said.
