Yanukovych, EP president discuss prospects for signing Association Agreement

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in a telephone conversation with European Parliament President Martin Schulz has discussed relations between Ukraine and the European Union, in particular the prospects for signing the Association Agreement.

Yanukovych said that the Ukrainian authorities were currently focused on the implementation of the steps necessary to ensure the signing of the agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius this November, the Ukrainian president's press service reported on Wednesday.

He said work in all areas is going on in close cooperation with the relevant agencies of the EU, the Council of Europe and the OSCE.

Yanukovych also said that the bill on the reform of the Prosecutor's Office was sent to the Venice Commission in order to take into account its recommendations before submitting it to parliament.

"We expect the Verkhovna Rada to consider the new law on the Prosecutor's Office soon," the president said.
