Yanukovych: Ukraine, Russia to develop strategic partnership between their Black Sea fleets
Ukraine and Russia have great potential for the further development of a strategic partnership in the activity of the two countries' Black Sea fleets, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"We are developing partnership relations, holding joint exercises, exchanging experience, celebrating the holidays together and honoring the heroic past. And I'm sure that our strategic cooperation has a great and successful future," he said in Sevastopol on Sunday during events to mark Ukrainian and Russian navy days.
Yanukovych said that the Ukrainian Navy and Russian Black Sea Fleet have special relations.
"Today Ukrainian and Russian warships keep watch on the Crimean coast. This demonstrates the profound sense of our fraternal relations with the Russian Federation," he said.
"We appreciate and value our friendship with Russia. Ukraine and Russia have been and remain strategic partners. This is particularly noticeable here, in Sevastopol," Yanukovych said.
