Yanukovych approves provisions on Ukraine's representative to WTO and commissioner for foreign policy and integration processes

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has approved a provision on Ukraine's commissioner for foreign policy and integration processes.

The head of state signed a respective decree on June 19, the presidential press service reported.

The provision notes that Ukraine's commissioner for foreign policy and integration processes is the person authorized to promote the overall direction and coordination of the actions of executive government agencies to establish and implement Ukraine's single foreign policy course in the sphere of foreign policy and integration processes.

Among the commissioner's main objectives are preparing and submitting proposals to the president on supporting the overall direction and coordination of the actions of executive government agencies, including "supporting Ukraine's integration into the European political, economic and legal environment in order to gain membership of the European Union, the continuation of Ukraine's constructive partnership with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on all matters of mutual interest, Ukraine's participation in European foreign policy processes, and supporting the national interests and security of Ukraine in the context of integration processes in the Eurasian, Asian-Pacific, Latin American and African regions."

In addition, the president approved a provision on Ukraine's representative to the World Trade Organization. The decree to that effect was signed on June 19.

Among the main tasks of Ukraine's representative to the WTO are analyzing WTO activity and the priorities and means of the development of Ukraine's cooperation within the WTO and with WTO members.
