United opposition ready to declare newly elected Rada illegitimate

The Batkivschyna United Opposition has put forward a number of demands in connection with violations during the tabulation of votes in the October 28 parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

"If the authorities do not immediately stop the electoral fraud and misappropriation of mandates received by opposition candidates, the Batkivschyna United Opposition is ready to recognize the Verkhovna Rada of the next convocation as illegitimate and will insist on holding early presidential and parliamentary elections," reads a statement by the united opposition published on Monday.

As a result of a meeting of the Council of the United Opposition, which addressed the fraud during the vote count and further coordination of the opposition forces' actions, a decision was made together with the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union and Vitali Klitschko's UDAR Party to start protests outside the building of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
