NBU supports consolidation of state policy in expanding share of non-cash payments in country

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) supports the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on approving requirements for business entities to accept electronic payments for goods they sold (services provided), obliging sellers of goods and service providers to provide customers with the option of retail non-cash payments.

"This document will help ensure the right of Ukrainians to freely choose a method of payment and promote a broad development of the payment infrastructure," the central bank's website said.

The draft resolution was developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in cooperation with the National Bank of Ukraine in compliance with the requirements of the law on payment systems and money transfers in Ukraine.

The National Bank is confident that a consolidated and consistent state policy will allow raising the share of non-cash payments, expanding the infrastructure for servicing electronic payments in Ukraine.

"Non-cash payment provides convenience, speed and reliability of service. In addition, non-cash payments are safe for customers, transparent for the state, and allow sellers of goods and service providers to optimize cash turnover expenses," the report says.
