The volume of hryvnia-pegged loans of banks issued to individuals, taking into account the loans on the balance of PrivatBank issued via the KUB service, grew by 13.4% in January-June 2017, and those issued to companies – by 2.6%, according to a survey of the banking sector by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) posted on its website.
The central bank said that in contrast to data presented in the monetary and credit statistics, according to which growth of hryvnia-pegged loans issued to individuals was 11.5% and companies by 3.1%, the survey of the banking sector takes into account the indicators of banks being solvent as of the reporting date and also includes data of the bank's branches outside Ukraine and data revised, taking into account reserves on active transactions.
The NBU said that loans received by some state monopolies in June contributed to the pace of crediting companies.
In addition, business slightly increased borrowing at large banks with foreign capital, but these loans are mainly short-term loans and were issued to finance current operations.
The press service of the NBU told Interfax-Ukraine that as of July 1, 2017, gross loans in hryvnias issued to individuals totaled UAH 81.6 billion and to companies – UAH 414.5 billion.
