NBU declares bank Gefest insolvent

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has placed public joint-stock company commercial bank Gefest (Kyiv) to the list of insolvent banks, the central bank has reported on its website.

Decision No. 490-rsh/BT was made by the NBU board on August 1.

"The bank failed to meet the requirements of the central bank's legal acts in part of increasing the regulatory capital to UAH 200 million in the period before July 11. The NBU is obliged to make a decision and declare the bank insolvent," the NBU said.

As of July 31, 2017, the bank's regulatory capital was less than one third of the required level.

The NBU also said that bank Gefest was founded late 2013, and taking into account crisis in the economy, the bank did not operate. As of August 1, the bank did not have any liabilities to clients.

The NBU registered the bank in October 2013.

The only shareholder in the bank as of January 1, 2017 was Prioritet Prava Ltd. Beneficiary was Ihor Kutytsky.

The bank ranked 90th among 90 operating banks in the country on April 1, 2017 by total assets (UAH 17.697 million), according to the NBU.\

Late May 2017 the only shareholder in the bank decided to increase the bank's charter capital by UAH 80 million or 66%, to UAH 201 million via an additional issue of shares.
