Operations at some banks gradually restored after cyber attacks

Operation of some banks that had been restricted over hacker attacks is gradually restoring, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported on its website, referring to acting NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii, on Thursday.

"Operation of some banks that had been restricted over hacker attacks is gradually restoring. The NBU's electronic payment system is operating as usual. The attack-hit banks are resuming their operations in the electronic payment system," he said.

Smolii said that Ukrgasbank resumed operations of its departments in the limited mode. The bank will service clients via receiving payment orders on paper for some time. Ochadbank is restoring its operations in general and connecting to the electronic payment system.

The NBU recommends banks' clients to call to the call centers of banks or their departments and learn about the possibilities of servicing transactions in concrete banks.

As reported, computer networks of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Kyiv City State Administration, dozens of state and private large banks and companies on June 27 became victims of a massive ransom ware attack, which in some cases halted their operations.
